Ten must see or do on Malta & Gozo
1. The Red Tower: St. Agatha's Tower in Malta is similar in style to the Wignacourt towers, though it was completed in 1649 during the Grand Mastership of Juan de Lascaris-Castellar to a design by Antonio Garsin. It is also known as the Red Tower due to the colour it is painted. 2. Mosta: Mosta is a busy and prosperous town. Mosta is famous for its Church of Santa Maria, better known as the Mosta Dome. 3. Marsaxlokk Market: Visit the Sunday Fish Market but be there early before everybody else arrives. 4. St.Johnīs Co-Cathedral: Maltaīs most impressive church was designed by Gerolamo Cassar and built between 1573 and 1578. 5. Valletta: Valletta was built by the Knights of St John as a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen. It is one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. 6. Grand Masterīs Palace: The residence of the Grand Masters of the Knights of St John is today the seat of Maltaīs parliament and the official residence of the Maltese president. 7. Comino: The islandīs biggest attraction is the Blue Lagoon. This cove has a white-sand sea bed and clear turquoise waters. 8. Mdina: Mdina was fortified from as long ago as 1000 BC when the Phoenicians built a protective wall here and called their settlement Malet, meaning place of shelter. 9. Megalithic Temples: The Megalithic Temples of Malta are the oldest freestanding structures in the world. They pre-date the Great Pyramids of Cheops in Egypt with more than 1000 years. 10. Dwerja: Gozos most spectacular coastal scenery is to be found at Dwerja. Here you will find geological wonders like the Inland Sea, the Azure Window and the famous Blue Hole which is a fantastic dive site.
