BANNERS

Childrens book author Janna Johansson was born in Scandinavia in 1975. While studing in Sweden for 3 years she had an opportunity to stay half a year in England as an exchange student in 1996 within the Erasmus programme. From this point on she became really insterested in sustainable development while she accieved her bachelor degree in tourism and economics in 1997. After finishing her studies she decided to apply for work on board a cruise-ship and Janna then got to travel throughout the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. While on board she became a licenced diver and as she travelled from Portofino in Italy, Paros in Greece, Djibouti, the Seychelles, Mombasa and Lamu in Kenya, the Comors, Madagascar, Sri Lanka to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia as well as other beautiful places she realized the importance of showing a deep respect while visiting other cultures. "I´ve seen the most amazing places you could ever imagine", Janna says. She continues by stating the fact that we always should think of what kind of footprints we leave behind and by saying that she also includes protection of the environment.

After a season on board the vessel she then returned to Scandinavia where she studied law for about 3 years and during summertime she started organizing divetrips together with a team of divers as well as becoming an Advanced Scuba Diver. Today Janna is Editor in Chief of the Scandinavian, the Mediterranean, the RedSea and the Equator Magazine and for her this is a challenge since it is an opportunity to learn more about other cultures as well as work towards a greater "global thinking". Through this line of work she wants to promote sustainable tourism and these magazines offer people sailing and diving DVD Travel guides in different parts of the world and supply travellers not only with these activities but all sorts of information regarding a certain destination.

Janna also points out that to her water is by far the most exciting element on our planet and "since I was a child I have felt a deep connection to the Sea and therefore I´ve always known that diving would be a part of my destiny." Furthermore she mentions that different guide books fail to supply adventurous travellers with the "right feeling" or an overall impression of a destination. "I think this will change with modern DVD Travel guides and people probably will become more open-minded when travelling and therefore choose new and more exciting destinations", Janna says. She then finishes by saying that "Evolution is happening all the time but we only see remarkable changes every once and again and for the moment our DVD Travel guides really can make a difference".
